Marsupials are a class of mammals commonly described or characterized by it's pouch, where in females carry their young/babies through inception.

Marsupials are also commonly known as "Pouched Animals". The marsupial's pouch is called a "marsupium". Different marsupial specie have a different kind of marsupial, depending on the marsupial species' lifestyle.
Marsupials give live birth too like any other mammal. But they don't have long gestation periods, unlike most mammals. They have very short gestation periods and give birth at a very early stage. The main reason for the mother marsupial's short gestation period is because of it's yolk-type placenta.
One advantage to the female marsupial's short gestation time, is it lessens the risk of delivery complications and death during childbirth.
Marsupials are covered with hair like other mammals. Though there are some marsupial species that have much thicker hair and can be classified or some people use as fur.

Majority of marsupials are either omnivores or herbivores. And are very diverse group of animals. The physical diversity in marsupials ranges from big & small 4-footed forms or large 2-legged forms. There are also burrowing, gliding, grazing, long/short-snouted, tree dwelling and insect eating forms. Making them such a diverse animal class.
